Toga Hospitality group, selects PROTEL

Saturday 24 April 2004

Sydney-based Toga Hospitality group, operators of the Medina Serviced Apartment chain and Vibe group of 4-star city hotels, has selected the Protel Multi-Property Edition (MPE), supplied by Xn Australia Pty Limited, for management of their rapidly growing, international accommodation chain.

Mr Bruce Copland, CEO Toga Group, selected Protel as “the PMS to best suit the growth and diversity of the group’s expanding operations”. Protel MPE will centrally support the group’s reservations, web-booking services, front office, travel agency commission clearing, conference & banqueting, sales & marketing, guest profile management and debtor operations. As the exclusive supplier of Protel in Asia-Pacific, Xn Australia is providing the application and support services to the group on a 24x7, 365 days basis.

Point-of-Sale systems at all Vibe Hotels will be replaced progressively with Xn dotPOS Enterprise™  F&B POS system. The single-supplier provisioning of both PMS and POS systems will also enhance guest service within an integrated product portfolio.

In conjunction with seamless integration to Toga’s Back Office Accounting, Qantas Frequent Flyer, Credit Card and MIS sub-systems, the Protel and dotPOS implementations will help to provide Toga group a range of IT and business process related efficiencies, within one totally integrated, relational SQL application suite.

Greg Spicer, Managing Director, hotel division of XN group said:
“We are extremely proud of this first major contract win in Australia. This project has expanded the reach of the Protel and Xn product lines within the Asia-Pacific region. Connecting Toga properties from the East to the West coasts of Australia, using a centralised deployment model, makes this installation one of the largest and most geographically spread, single-cluster implementations of Protel MPE in the world. Whilst the scalability, reliability and functionality of Protel have been proven in Europe for some years, the Australian implementation for Toga has now successfully demonstrated the suitability of the product for Australian conditions and Asia-Pacific hoteliers”.
